The KHS is definitely more of an aggressive bike than that Norco Fluid. Looks to have a bit nicer parts than the Norco, even though it's older. Both are great for the price, I'd base it on the type of riding you're going to be doing. If it's mostly xc, I'd go Norco. If it's all-mountain/dh/jumping, I'd go with the KHS. Now that I think of it, a buddy used to have one of those and he liked it. Hope that helps!
yeah ive seen lol my auntie lives in virginia which i think recieves the same sort of whether you do like you say real seasons we just get rain rain and er more rain but this year has been weird like the sun has been out normally its horrible at this time of year
in my opinion they are a waste of time but i also know a few parents that swear by them i guess im just old school in the way i do things would you believe my boy can ride my dj bike
no man my boy walking at 9months had him on a proper bike with stabilizers at 1yr old but i should have got a fixed wheel bike first has it took him a little while to learn to pedal properly and with a fixed wheel bike it gives them the complete pedal action where as my boy was doing half pedals for about 4months then went onto full revolutions so get him a fixed geared bike so he can learn to pedal ill show you a pic of my boys bike
lol compromise is that your out of her way lol joking dude i just take the boy and the dog with me then i mention to her run yourself a bath with the candles and all that crap you know what i mean it becomes an instant WIN situation she gets hours to relax in the bath i get to go build and ride
sick dude thanks for all your help so far i have family in Virginia so that should help with visa's and stuff just need a job over there now and im set
its cool i kind off half expect it people just dont want to understand that if was not for my bike building trails my life would very different in and out of jail etc etc thats why im so passionate about riding i feel as though i have to give something back if you know what i mean
fed up of living in country that as soon as you build a few dj' some f*cker always comes along and knocks them down due to f*cking idiots so it would just be nice to live somewhere where i wouldn't have to worry about my jumps being ploughed
yeah the shonky is coming tomorrow, and the components the day after. we are going to highland on thurdsay by the looks of it. i will post new pics of my voltage with the upgrades now.
ordered the shonky and all the needed components aside from what i already have. total was 340 becuase all i had to buy was a frame and a wheel, also brake levers. ive got the rest.
yes, this would be a single speed, has horizontal drop-outs, steel frame. i have all the other components, like a marzocchi DJ 2 fork, Deity 2 inch riseer bars, ect. decent stuff.
from the ones I've seen....at killington i did see a guy with one, but he had a 6 inch sc fork that was air and it weighed 39 LBs. that's what he siad anyway. idk if you will be able to buy anything for under 700, unless it's something used. stinkys are pretty cheap, i used to have a stinky six killington sold me for 500 bucks, which is pretty cheap. that weighed 43 LBs. not to light. Hey I am thinking about buiding a kona shonky DJ bike from the frame up, i have most of the components already. the frame is only 120 brand new, tho it's a 2009 frame. they look to have good geo, what do you think? i figure you probabbly know alot more about dirt jumpers that me becaase you are into the sport.
what's wrong with the park now? like i said, old bighits are VERY heavy, they have a high satndover too. bighits are wayy over 40 lbs, you're talking about 47 range. voltage fr 30s are sick, mine is liek 35 LBS, pedals very well in 5 inch mode, boosts like an ss bike. 7 inch mode runs DH like a true DH mackine, also in 5 mode there's no pedal bob whatsoever. like as little as an XC bike. I got mine from outspokin for 1650, you maybe able to get one for less.
what bike are you looking at getting? and it looks like I'm not gonna make it to highland on the 25th gotta work. uumm 31 inch bars are very wide, it does make a difference in control, it definitely helps in the rock gardens and stuff, it's cool on Hellion becuase thats not singletack. i did hit my bars a few times on the trees at killington. once in midair. (scary) but overall i love them. and actually at highland last time i saw a dude on a hardtail and he was clearing it all pretty well.
You can do it for the whole set as long as your set has good flow and you keep your speed. Every jump may not be the same, you just gotta build the general idea and then tweak till everything works out as best as possible.Ya bike length,I'd say a bike and a half just to be safe. No problem man,If I can make someones building go a little easier Im more then happy to try and help out.
where? I'm going to killington today, getting ready to leave. went to Highland the day before yesterday. YYEESS! the bike is soo much better with the new fork, it makes worlds of difference! I will have to post pics it looks awesome. also i got blue racface atlas fr bars, 31 inchs wide! white TLD grips with red end caps, and a 35mm raw answer stem with a gold faceplate. I haven't weighed it recently but it should be in the sub-35 pound weight. which is very light for a FR bike. also it was great on hellion in 5 inch moed!
There should be at LEAST a bike length between the bottom of a landing and the beginning of a take off.5 by 6 is a really good high, remember though when your trying trick you want tall landings other wise you might miss the landing altogether and land flat which hurts like hell. so maybe 6 foot landings?
There on anywhere from 6-7 feet in height and the smallest gap is 12ish feet. (assuming you asking about the big set) I dig a hole in between the jumps to get dirt. Also a huge thing to remember which I made the mistake of is your landings need to have a curve, don't make them wedges. I don't know if that helps, feel free to ask me what ever questions you need about building and Ill try my best to help.
